In 2026, the Museums of Marseille continue their support for contemporary art by inviting Marseille based artist Adrien Vescovi to take over the Centre de la Vieille Charité. For the chapel and the full network of arcades within this monument designed by Pierre Puget in the seventeenth century, the artist has conceived a new textile installation at the scale of the site, developed over an extended period, under the curatorship of Laëtitia Olivier, Head of Exhibitions for the Museums of Marseille.

Vescovi's practice is rooted in textile work that explores the resonances of artisanal gesture. Sewing, dyeing, and modest materials become carriers of a plural memory in his hands, echoing the workshops that have long lined the shores of the Mediterranean. At the heart of his work is the old bedsheet, a malleable material and witness to daily life, which becomes a territory of silent archives, marked by time, steeped in natural pigments, or shaped by the artist's hand.
Playing with the chapel, the arcades, and their shifting shadows, the installation is conceived as an invitation to wander. A moving, delicate, and poetic work, it links spaces and perspectives, weaving a sensitive bond between the site's Mediterranean architecture and contemporary creation. The exhibition is part of the Saison Méditerranée 2026, which celebrates the richness of the region's cultures.
